Meet Our Veterinarians

Dr. Leah Naplin
Dr. Leah Naplin is a 2013 graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Leah enjoys soft tissue surgery and taking on the challenge of a complex internal medicine case. Dr. Leah strives to be direct and honest in delivering assessments of animals brought in her care. Most of all, she appreciates the trust her clients place in her and values the privilege of forming relationships with clients and their pets as they get to know each other over the life of each pet. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Leah likes to unwind by spending time in nature with her husband, two children and Bonnie the Beagle.

Dr. Eric Naplin
Dr. Eric Naplin graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Dr. Eric enjoys treating urgent cases and achieving a positive outcome for clients and their pets. Dr. Eric is strongly committed to giving each case as much time as it requires. After an appointment with Dr. Eric, you will always leave with a thorough explanation of your pet's diagnostic and treatment plan. Dr. Eric enjoys hunting, wood-working, painting and growing a large vegetable garden with his family.

Aubree
Office Manager

Aubree graduated from Oakland University in 2021 with a focus in Marketing. Shortly after, she realized that veterinary medicine was her passion. She obtained different jobs at local vet clinics where it led her to where she is today!  Through her experience, she combined her love for both animals and business! She is currently in vet tech school. When she is not at the clinic, you can find Aubree spending most of her days hiking and swimming with her two dogs, Tilly and Dixie. She also enjoys hunting, snowboarding, traveling, horseback riding and spending time with family!

Sandi
LVT

I am a graduate of the Macomb Community College Veterinary Technician Program. 
I have been a Licensed Veterinary Technician for 30 years and love my job at Black River Veterinary Clinic. Pictured with me are Taco (tan chihuahua), Charlie( white chihuahua- deaf) and Max (terrier) and my cat Captain Jack Sparrow . I also have horses and chickens .

Stacey
​LVT

Stacey has been a LVT for 30 years. She looks forward to meeting and providing compassionate care for everyone's furry friends. At the clinic, she loves helping the doctors discuss nutrition for all ages of pets, geriatric health and wellness which could include weight loss to help senior pets be more comfortable! In her free time, she teaches her grandchildren how to care for animals; our chickens, a Great Pyrenees and how not to pull on cats tails. Stacey and her husband, Craig, have 9 adult children combined! When they are not making memories with their kids and grandkids, they rest with fishing poles giving thanks to the Creation and the Creator!

Lanette 
​Assistant 

Lanette grew up with all kinds of farm animals large and small, so working with animals she knew would always be in her future. After a few years working in human medicine she finally decided to jump to animals, After graduating from Ross Medical Center with her certification in Veterinary Assistant in 2014, She worked in emergency and general practices working mainly with small animals and occasional exotics. Lanette took a particular liking to the neonatals and raising cleft lip and cleft palate puppies and kittens. Lanette’s house is always full of craziness with her 5 dogs, 2 cats ,husband and daughter, but she wouldn’t want it any other way!

Allison 
Assistant

Allison has worked in the veterinary field since 2017 when she began her pre-veterinary education. Allison has a strong interest in animal behavior and is currently pursuing a masters degree in Veterinary Forensic Sciences. She has taking a special liking to cats and will foster kittens when she can. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, spending time on the water, reading, and horseback riding.

Susan
​Assistant

Susan has been an employee of Black River since April of 2022. She is a certified vet assistant and graduated from Macomb Community College. Before covid, She was on the Veterinary Assistant Program Advisory Committee at MCC. Some of her favorite things at work include getting to know patients and clients, run lab work, help place IV catheters, clean surgical instruments, prep for surgery, and cleaning ears! They can be very satisfying! When Susan is not at work, she enjoys hanging out with her 18 and 1/2 year old Shih Tzu, Emma and two year old Mini Rex bunny, Czarex. They keep her on her toes! She loves reading, hanging out with family and friends, shopping, working out, hiking, going to the movies, collecting crystals, rock hunting, and using essential oils!

Marlena
​Receptionist 

Marlena is a life-long lover of animals.  She is a graduate of Ross Medical Education Center's Veterinary Assistant program in 2014.  She has worked at a few clinics until finding her home here at Black River Veterinary Clinic.  She cares for everyone's pet as if it were her own.  Pictured with her are Leia, on the left, and Leeto, on the right.
